Why I stopped reading music reviews

Electronic music writing guide

A music reviewer runs into a problem that plagues most writers: coming up with new ways to say the same thing. "Ideally, there could be a set of pre-written sentences that I could simply cut and paste into short reviews," he says.

For instance: "... the general tone is made up of wide-sweeping oscillations, spectral drones, and acidy droplets of melody weaving in and out of each other."

I stopped reading music magazines in 2001 when I couldn't take one more critic using the phrase "pop sensibilities." What does that even mean?
